Anna’s Favourites Day 1: Amber Run

Remember how I posted yesterday about the music challenge? Well, I’m starting that today.

Looking through all my music artists in iTunes who start with the letter A, I knew pretty quickly that Amber Run would easily be my favourite out of all of them.

  1. What draws me to this particular artist’s music? Which is my favourite album or EP?

I’m a big fan of alternative music because most pop(ular) music drives me nuts. I’ve always had slightly different tastes that tend to be on the lines of… well, not of the mainstream. Amber Run’s music has a calming effect on me without sending me off to sleep since it still has a beat. I also really love their lyrics – when I first discovered “For A Moment, I Was Lost,” I jumped on it immediately as being an album to which I could relate in its entirety. While that isn’t as true anymore, I still think the album is pretty amazing because the music is great and the lyrics are deep and meaningful.

3. What is my favourite song(s) from this artist?

“Insomniac,” “No Answers,” and “Perfect.”

4a. Which song best describes my past?

“Insomniac” (listen to the first track here)

Does it feel like you gave it all away?
Does it feel like it was barely yesterday?
Do the promises you make feel harder to keep?
Are you losing any sleep? Are you losing any sleep?

4b. Which song best describes my life right now?

“I Found” (although it works for the past on several levels as well)

4c. Which song best describes I want my future to be like?

None of them. Hahaha.

5. What other songs by A artists do I like?

Andrea Bocelli is amazing, but I don’t think I listen to enough of his music to be able to put him down as a favourite artist without feeling like a hypocrite. Some of my favourite songs of his are “Because We Believe,” “La Voce del Silenzio,”  and his cover of “Can’t Help Falling In Love With You.”
